November meeting minutes

People for Peace
Notes from November 15, 2007 Meeting

Attendance: Jane Haasch, Jeff, Larry Craig, Kate Saunders, Carole Elvery, Pat Reckrey, and Sandy Testin

Treasurer’s Report: $900
Pat will do a more detailed report about the Peace delegation and costs and income for next meeting

Women to Women Peace week:
Kate led a review of the week –
Jane Haasch will send a thank you to Mike Kirk and the Historical Society and a $25 donation
Pat read a commendation letter from Kagen’s office. Kate will see if it could be changed slightly to make it appropriate for the newspaper.
Kate will send a thank you note to the High School
Kate shared some evals from Maryland

School Military Recruitment – we discussed the best way to deal with the issue of recruiters wandering freely through the High School
Larry will see if he can find the anti recruitment info he got at Bob Fest
Pat may write a letter asking about recruiters and current policy – maybe this is something we need to deal with as a Peace Group

Name Change ?? – We discussed how important the issue of justice is for peace. We discussed the possibility of changing our name to Waupaca Area People for Peace and Justice. Interesting thoughts on what justice means and the connotations it has for different people.

Announcements:
Living Waters Fair Trade Sale We will have our buttons, tshirts, CD’s and Olive Oil for sale at the Fair Trade Sale on Saturday 11/17 at the Chez. Sandy will make up a price list. Pat volunteered to take stuff to Living Waters on Sunday and sell.

Christmas Open House Recital: Saturday, December 15 at 2 PM at the Chez
Sandy is trying to recruit musicians. Mr. Biba has a number of students who will be playing. Sandy will put up a flyer at the Chez.. Donations will go to the Etta Projects (like last year) and to Jen Potts home Rotary project for AIDs victims- many of which are orphaned children. Be sure to come and support the musicians!
