June Meeting Minutes

People for Peace
Notes from June 21st Meeting

Attendance: Jane Haasch, Cam Nusz, Pat Reckrey, John Skyrms, and Sandy Testin

Treasurer’s Report: $2345

Pancake Breakfast Update: Big success!!! $913 profit. Grill worked great – made a huge difference. Cam thinks we fed about 350 people. Health Department inspection had suggestions for us which were incorporated as possible. Cam has made notes about improvements for next year. A few other comments: more big aluminum bowls; Change recipe: ½ gal + 1 cup of milk per double batch.

Nonprofit Status: Cam has not had time to work on this yet.

People for Peace HS Scholarship: This year’s winner is Tom Link. Tom hopes to go into architecture and work on green building.

Membership Letter: Sandy wrote up letter. We used Louise’s mailing list with advice from Louise about who to send it to. Letters were folded, stuffed, and sealed. Pat will mail out.

Peace Day: Peace Day is Sunday August 5th – coming up quickly!!!
Park is reserved
Sandy will let beach people know we are coming
Tom Pease is available and will do beach front music
Timing: Same as last year – 7 PM Lantern-making, 8PM Beach front
Banner – Megan working on this???
Advertising – Pat will write an article for the newspaper
Steve – maybe work on a poster???
Participants: Japanese guests will not be here yet – they arrive on Monday this year
Jane will invite the CAS students from Appleton
Anyway to get more kids involved???
Lanterns – Megan???
Drums?? Marci as Bill??
Doves – Cam will give to Louise
Boats – Kuehl’s???
Pat will invite Tom Link (Scholarship recipient)
We want to invite local churches

Barn Dance: Saturday July 14th at the Peterson Barn

Next Meeting: Thursday, July 19th 7 PM at Chez Marche
We definitely need some help to make Peace Day work. Please come to the next meeting if you are able or contact Marci to let her know if you can help in someway!
